'TITANIC HEART' BRONZE SCULPTURE
An Enduring Heart
Using the Lost Wax technique, Kris casts the pieces for this sculpture from real redundant tools, breathing new life into them. Kris describes his work as, "a whimsical approach to love, loss and identity." This is clearly displayed with this bronze sculpture as it displays the journeys of a heart, having it broken and patched back up together with the literal use of the tools, nuts and bolts. The nuts and bolts also make the piece feel as if it were almost made from the side of a boat reflecting on its name, 'Titantic'. The name also reflects on the epic proportions of emotion the heart can feel.
The various degrees in patination from the verdigris blue to the rusty earth tones displays Kris's love for the rural landscape and gives the sculpture a weathered look to display its enduring strength.
