Hampton Hex Wallpaper by Blackpop for AUTHOR's collection of British-made luxury homeware

Regular price £250 Sale

Printed in the UK by the talented team at Blackpop.

Blackpop have collaborated with the Sir John Soane's Museum to create this opulent design. Motifs have been dismantled and rejigged from Sir John Soane's and Robert Adam's architectural drawings as well as a sketch for the ceiling of the Queen's State Bed Chamber at Hampton Court Palace, 1715, by Sir James Thornhill.

The Hampton Hex Wallpaper is digitally printed in the UK with environmentally friendly inks (no formaldehyde) on coated, non-woven paper. Please get in touch if you would like a sample as this may include a small fee.

Why we love this product

Dramatic depth in green.

From afar this gorgeous wallpaper is a fun and abstract design that could almost be mistaken for a Jackson Pollock painting. On closer inspection the architectural details from Sir John Soane and Robert Adam's drawings can be seen, along with the ceiling painting motifs of intertwining bodies, cherubs, horses and textiles from a sketch of the Queen's State Bed Chamber ceiling at Hampton Court Palace by John Thornhill in 1715. These motifs have been rejigged and layered on top of each other.

This layering, like in its golden counterpart the Hampton Gold Wallpaper, evokes the way one might find in a historical home layers of paper and paint built up over time and waiting to be uncovered. Traces of different centuries and eras combine together to say something new. The green and purple hues blend so well together and give this design depth as does the playful use of shape.
