Jake Phipps

Lost At Sea Chest Sideboard by British furniture designer Jake Phipps for AUTHOR Interiors' collection of luxury furniture

Regular price £14,733 Sale

Exquisitely made in the Jake Phipps workshop in North Yorkshire.

Like the Lost At Sea Console Table, this luxury sideboard chest of drawers is adorned with gold lacquer barnacles. The barnacles were 3D scanned from the original specimen of the Balanus Poreatus barnacle; collected in 1921 for the Natural History Museum in London. Each barnacle is edited to a variety of sizes and shapes once scanned to ensure that every piece will be unique with barnacle placement.

This unique sideboard is finished in a high gloss black lacquer and the drawers have a gold interior finish.

Why we love this product

Inspired by objects that have been left exposed to the sea

This uniquely decorated sideboard, like its console table version, shows the wonderful range of scope for this collection by furniture designer, Jake Phipps. The gold lacquer barnacles contrast elegantly on the high gloss black finish of the chest itself. It is truly a statement piece that will spark many conversations when entertaining. Jake's designs inhabit the world where function and beauty meet.

We love the attention to detail with the barnacles being scanned from the real specimen from the Natural History Museum's archives and that the drawers have a gold interior.
