  • TO TREASURE FOR EVER

  • Wood – can be washed with hot soapy water. Reapply a mineral oil once in a while to prevent drying out and cracking.
Oxidised silver – Any piece of oxidised silver will be prone to wear, as it is a surface patina. However, this can add to the surface and represent your relationship with the object. Alternatively the oxidised finish can be re-applied if you wish if the true colour of the silver starts to shine through. Please contact us if you wish to arrange for an item to be re-oxidised. For general day-to-day care the blackened colour can be maintained by using Renaissance wax, which should be gently applied with a soft cloth and any residue carefully polished off. Please be sure only to use a soft cloth that is not impregnated with any kind of jewellery cleaning substance as this will further remove the oxidisation.
Why we love this product

Exquisite Handcrafted Artisanal Decorative Britannia Silver

These hand raised, Britannia silver bowls are handmade with gorgeousÿbrass footing. The accompanying shovels are constructed from sterling silver tube, sheet and wire. All elements of the piece have an oxidised finish creating that gorgeous blackened effect. The brass elements of both the bowls and shovels are created from repurposed brass olives, which are mass produced engineered components used in plumbing. Melissa's work explores the idea of making something beauty from everyday objects such as plumbing materials.

Melissa's inspiration for this piece comes from old farming tools as her grandfather was a farmer and keen metal detectorist, the work of Christopher Dresser and ceremonial objects.
