An Enchanting Hand Crafted Britannia Silver Decorative Sculpture
This hand raised Britannia silver bowl has a gorgeous repurposed brass foot. It is created from brass olives, which are engineered parts used in plumbing. This repurposing of metal is prominent feature in Melissa Montague's work as she aims to see the beauty in everyday items. The shovel is created from sterling silver tube, sheet and wire. Both have an oxidised finish and are set on an American rock maple wood base.
The piece takes inspiration from old farming tools as Melissa's grandfather was a farmer and keen metal detectorist and the work of 19th century designer Christopher Dresser.
