Why we love this product

The Rocking Curl makes a wonderful focal point on a mantle piece.

As with much of this Penny's work, the Rocking Curl has been inspired by movement and the way that wet clay can interpret the fluid, flowing movements of people, dancers and water. The maker begins her works on the wheel, in a process she describes as 'composition'. Forms are created and altered from slabs of clay, and for her sculptures, then sliced, peeled open and unwound, playing on the idea of continuous surface.

The Rocking Curl has been finished with a plain white glaze as not to detract from the simplicity of the shape and we especially love the wonderful negative space that is formed inside the curl. The eye of the curl adds extra interest, curiously peering out from the centre.
