Creatively handmade by talented artist, Joy Gray, in Bangor, Northern Ireland.

This Tree has been hand crafted in fine copper wire, built up branch upon branch. The copper is then oxidised and finally burnished to add warmth while giving an aged effect. High up in the boughs of the tree, perched on its branches is a tiny nest. The surrounding broken down fence with barbed wire detail is hand built. Even the tiny, barbs on the wire have been created individually with an extremely fine wire. Mounted in a one-off, large globe dome with wooden base.

Joy layers wire to create this stunning realistic tree with a delicate birds nest perched on top.ÿThis moving piece stirs up questions of protection: where is the protection? Is it the fence and barbed wire? Is it the nest? Or is it the tree itself? The tree has been fenced in to protect it but the tree itself offers the real protection.
