The Motu lamp is constructed from patinated brass with a bronze finish. The silk shade is ‘Truffle’ in colour. The flex is in brown twisted silk with a matching brown in-line switch.

All wirework in Porta Romana lamps is 4mm thick and powder coated. This extra rigidity helps prevent dinks during its lifetime and allows the shade to travel well. Porta Romana stitch the side seams, a feature that is now a hallmark of a Porta Romana shade.

The transparencies of the linings have been created purposefully to give the perfect glow when lit because every silk, satin or velvet requires a different thickness. A cost may incur to change specification for Europe and USA use.

Why we love this product

A two-headed lamp, battling the forces of darkness.

We have loved Porta Romanas work for a long time, and used their pieces in many interiors. The Porta Romana studio achieves wonderful specialist finishes on its products. We admire the ingenious original ideas in each years new collection and look forward with excitement to see new products revealed.

This double-sided table lamp is simple and functional, with no superfluous decoration or ornament. It adds interest to a dark corner, casting symmetrical, opposing pools of warm light in both directions.

The shape could be interpreted as back-to-back bowed heads but Porta Romana informs us that the name MOTU is, rather amusingly, an acronym for Masters of the Universe. Knowing this, we can definitely now see a He-Man in the shape of the lamp.
