Large tenmoku jar with kintsugi detail

Regular price £1,440 Sale

On the Potters’ Wheel from her studio in Newcastle Upon Tyne

Using traditional Korean methods of throwing and joining two halves of a bowl together make the moon jar and then distorting the shape to create a totally new form. Thrown in white textured porcelain and glazed with a combination of tenmoku, copper green, cobalt and rutile glazes, dipped and poured. Inspired by rock formations of the Northumberland coast near Cullernose Point.

Each one varies due to the nature of making and assembling from two halves of porcelain and glazing with three different glazes dipped and poured.

Why we love this product

Rooted in traditional Korean moon jar techniques, this piece is formed by throwing and joining two porcelain halves before gently distorting the shape to create something entirely new. Finished in textured white porcelain and layered with tenmoku, copper green, cobalt, and rutile glazes, each surface is dipped and poured to produce rich depth and movement. Inspired by the rock formations of the Northumberland coast near Cullernose Point, it feels both grounded in history and strikingly contemporary.
